His research explores the political economy of the new oil industry in East Africa. Shingirai holds B.A. and M.A degrees in international relations from the University of the Witwatersrand, and a first class M.A in political science from Dalhousie University. His research interests broadly include sub-Saharan Africa’s post-colonial state-building, international political economy, and the management of extractive natural resources. He also conducts freelance research, analysis, and country monitoring work for a U.K.-based consulting company.
